Dr. Olga Ihnatsenka is a board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine who is passionate about her specialty, healthy lifestyle, learning and education. Dr. Ihnatsenka grew up in Belarus, a small country in Eastern Europe. She received her medical degree from Grodno Medical School in 1995. She practiced internal medicine and taught medical students at the local university hospital for 6 years. She moved to the US with her family in 2001, in a time of political and economic crisis in her country. She completed rigorous examinations to earn ECFMG certification to validate her medical degree in the US. While studying for the examination, to support her family, she became a certified behavioral analyst and worked with disabled children. She was accepted to the UF Family Medicine residency program in 2005. After completing her training, she joined the University of Florida as clinical faculty at the Community Health and Family Medicine Department. She has accumulated almost 20 years of clinical and teaching experience over her career in medicine. During her time with UF she actively volunteered at Equal Access, a student-run free health care clinic, providing services for the medically underserved population. She received the UF Health Physicians Excellence in Patient Satisfaction Award for 2018 and was recognized as Top Decile Patient Satisfaction Performer, ranking overall in the top 1% nationally against her peers. Among the most rewarding moments in her clinical experience has been helping her patients make a difference in their health by addressing the root cause of chronic diseases, empowering them to make lifestyle changes, and witnessing their successes while reducing their medications. She has used lifestyle medicine pillars to help with her own and her husband’s health problems, physician burnout and menopausal transition. She learned how to swim in her 40s and has completed several open water swims and triathlons with her husband and her daughter. Cooking healthy meals has become a new delicious hobby for the whole family. She has hosted cooking classes at her house throughout the year for her colleagues and friends. She has been married for 30 years, has two wonderful and very successful children and has a very busy and fulfilling life outside work. She is passionate about hiking, traveling and photography. Her work has been featured on several Florida photography websites. You can often find her with her camera in hand exploring local parks and nature.
